Callus
SYMPTOMS CALLUS
Callus is a thickening of the skin and is intended to protect the skin. For a number of reasons, calluses can become too thick and cause complaints. Friction due to shoes that are too large or too small is a common cause. Standing a lot or having a (very) dry skin can also cause excess calluses. In addition, there may also be a medical cause due to the wrong position of the feet. In that case the podiatrist will recommend therapy or try to correct the position of the feet with special soles.
Excessive calluses can cause unpleasant pain. Deep painful fissures can occur in calluses, and it can also result in corns.
TREATMENT CALLUS
In most cases, the (medical) pedicurist can help you remove the calluses and make an analysis of the cause. If there is no medical cause, you can also remove calluses yourself and ensure that the skin of your feet is kept soft.
